I am coming to NYU for a 3 week course next May-June 2010, and am planning ahead so that I can get my application out early.
I have an anxiety and separation disorder, so because I am an international student, I would require that my cousin comes with me. I am requesting a double occupancy room only, and my cousin as my roommate (2 single occupancy rooms in the same apartment would also be fine). My parents may also be visiting for 3 nights (the max for the guest policy).
I am wondering, is the possibility of me being granted a double occupancy room with my cousin as my roommate very high? Also, should I request a double occupancy room and my roommate request through the disability application, or just note it on the comment section of a regular application? (I can provide medical documentation if required)

Unfortunately, we are unable to guarantee roommate requests. We also are unable to guarantee a specific type of room (ie: a double with no suit-mates.)

Therefore, I would recommend that you contact the Moses Center for students with disabilities and provide them with any documentation you have. Please bear in mind that our application will not be available until January and you should not contact them until you've applied.
