1. Can I find out my room number before I arrive?
No. Room assignments are made just prior to each resident's arrival, and specific room assignments and roommate/suitemate information is not available until check-in. 2. If I am assigned to a "single", does that mean I'll be living alone? Can I get a room with a private bath? No. Single occupancy means that you will have your own private bedroom but will share a bathroom and kitchen (in apartment-style halls) with suitemates. 3. Can I request a change in my building or room-type assignment before I arrive? Yes. Once you receive your assignment packet, which confirms your building and room-type assignment, you may submit a request to the Office of Summer Housing asking for a change. However, changes are based on availability and, if space is becomes limited, Summer Housing may not begin to review change requests until after the March 27th application deadline. 4. If, after I've checked in, I request a building change and it's approved, do I have to move or can I change my mind and stay where I am? Once your building change has been approved and processed, you are required move on the date designated. Failure to do so may result in your account being charged for both spaces. 5. Do I have to pay a fee to request a building change? No. Summer Housing does not charge a fee for requesting or making building changes. However, if you are requesting a change from one building-type to another (e.g. traditional to apartment-style hall) or from a shared room to a single room, there may be an increase in the cost of housing per week. 6. How are the rooms furnished? What do I need to bring? All residents are provided with a long twin-sized bed, mattress, desk, chair, and dresser. For additional information, please click here. 7. What time can I check in to my building? The earliest you may check-in is 9:00 a.m. on the Sunday of the week your reservation begins. 8. Can I still check in if I'm arriving late in the evening? If you are checking in after 11:00 PM, you should contact the residence hall you are checking into directly prior to your check-in. 9. Can I have packages sent to me at my residence hall before I have arrived? No mail/packages will be accepted for any resident before he or she has officially checked in at the residence hall. For additional information, please click here. 10. My son/daughter is attending the CAP 21 Program/ Joffrey Ballet Program. Is he/she eligible to apply for housing? Yes. Anyone aged 17 and over is eligible to apply. However, priority is given to applicants who are registered for NYU courses. All others will be housed on a "first come, first served" basis. 11. My internship begins on May 18, can I check in on May 17? No. Only applicants registered for NYU summer courses beginning on May 18 and continuing spring residents may check on May 17. All other applicants may check-in beginning May 24. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Special Sessions Admin, |
